Lift Every Voice and Sing!
These words, penned then orchestrated by the Johnson brothers James Weldon and John Rosamand in the 1900s, have become an anthem of passion and resilience for many people. To celebrate the history of African American culture, along with the future of culturally responsive teaching, Alicia Engram, Franklin Willis and Otto Gross have combined the prominent and popular hymn with a touch of modern day production in this new arrangement.
We hope teachers, parents and students sing, dance and play this arrangement as well as discuss the meaning behind the lyrics themselves. Perform it for assemblies, school concerts, Black History Month and more!
