ENHARMONIC BOOKS SUBMISSIONS

Our Children’s Books are published under the Enharmonic Books Imprint. They are sold as Interactive flipbooks on the F-flat Books Website and are digitally and physically distributed through a variety of bookstores.

If you have an idea for a musical children’s book or already have one developed, please go through the following documentation before submitting your idea.

Before continuing, make sure you have first read through our general AUTHOR PACKETSubmissions for the 2024 publishing season will be open from January 1, 2024-March 31, 2024. We will only be accepted five total projects.

Submitting Your Project

After reading through the general AUTHOR PACKET, please submit your project through our submission form. If you would rather submit the answers to the prompts via email, you may type the answers to the submission questions and submit them as an attachment to [email protected].

Flip Book Submission Form

At F-flat Books, we are a hybrid publisher and support authors in finding illustrators and editors. Please indicate if you need help with the illustration and copyediting of your book.

At F-flat Books, we are committed to representing underrepresented voices and sharing stories and songs that need to be heard.

When will your flip book go live?

Even though we have approved your interactive flip book for publication, submission follows a different timeline than standard resources. Interactive flip books take special attention, so we require all assets as described in the following section a minimum of three months before going live. We will not start to develop your flip book until all assets adhere to the following guidelines.

If you cannot provide assets one month before the tentative release date, that is OK. We want a great final product and prioritize that over any publishing schedules.

Once we have all assets, we will try and give you one week for basic revisions before going live. Any (major) revisions which change the scope of the original project description may add another month to the release date.

Physical distribution will have a separate timeline and will be detailed in your initial intake meeting.

    Dimensions / Artwork

    Page Dimensions

While we allow flexibility in regards to page dimensions, we strongly suggest square pages (or close to square). This is optimal for a two-page-spread when reading in landscape mode. A square format will also adapt well when viewing single-page on mobile in both portrait and landscape. We find users view our flip books on all kinds of devices and want to be as accommodating as possible.

Please do not include bleed. These files are not meant for print.

    Resolution

Full-page Illustrations should be at least 1080 pixels on their shortest side. When in doubt, go with a higher resolution, and we will reduce as needed. Illustrations should be encoded as RGB or colors may differ from your original files.

    Fonts

Please use easy-to-read fonts, avoiding any decorative typefaces. Text should be legible on a modern-sized phone screen. If you aren’t sure if the text is large enough, export a page with text to an image and view on your phone. If it is too small for you, it is too small for your readers.

    Clickable Elements

If you have included images meant to be clickable, make sure they are not placed too close together to facilitate easy clicking on mobile.
