Winter teacher health & wellness retreat

Saturday, February 20th

from 9am to 7pm ET

A one-day virtual retreat over zoom exploring
rest, renewal, play, and practical strategies for teacher health and wellness

Winter Thaw keynote

Our keynote speaker this year is New York Times best-selling author, Dr. Amelia Nagoski, co-author of Burnout: the Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle.

The Science and Art of Stress Management for Musicians

We have been lied to our whole lives about what wellness “should” look like. It turns out, wellness is not a state of mind, but a state of action. It is the freedom to move through the innate cycles and oscillations of being human – from effort to rest and back, from connection to autonomy and back, from adventure to homecoming and back. As musicians, we already possess a gift that gives us access to this, but also face specific barriers that can only be overcome by being named and faced.

Losing my sister three years ago took me on a journey through grief, anxiety, and depression that exacerbated my OCD. This session has four objectives: (1) to provide participants with some foundational information on grief, depression, anxiety, and OCD; (2) to lead participants through self-care activities that may help them process grief, soothe anxiety, stop or reduce OCD tendencies, and aid in emerging from depression or depressive episodes, (3) provide time for participants to share experiences with each other, and (4) provide time for participants to make at least one actionable step for the coming week that will help their mental health.
