Jes Cleland
Meet Jes Cleland, an embodiment of musical passion and pedagogical innovation. Hailing from a lineage of musicians, Jes’s love for music was nurtured in an environment rich with talent and creativity. From her early days in choir and school band to formal music education in college, she devoted herself to the art form. While in college, Jes was given the opportunity to facilitate a preschool music class for community centers in Southern California’s San Gabriel Valley. The curriculum for these classes became a passion project, one that is still being worked on today.
Now, leveraging more than two decades of expertise in preschool music and early childhood education, coupled with her entrepreneurial spirit, Jes has seamlessly transformed her passion project into a thriving career.
As the founder of Music U, Jes’s visionary approach to early childhood music education has left an indelible mark. Launched in 2013 at a downtown Nashville preschool, Music U has since evolved, offering a range of group classes and private lessons throughout the Nashville area. With a keen commitment to professional development, Jes is a member of the Middle Tennessee Orff-Schulwerk Association and has undergone extensive training in various music education disciplines. Music U classes, under Jes’s guidance, seamlessly blend movement, dance, singing, literature, mindfulness, and music theory, providing the youngest learners with a comprehensive and engaging musical journey.
