Julianne Nguyen

Julianne is a composer, music educator, and performer based in the Roseville–Sacramento and Bay Area.
As a composer, she is actively engaged in creating music that reflects her Vietnamese cultural heritage. Her published Vietnamese choral work Về nghe mẹ ru premiered at the Southern California Vocal Association (SCVA) Festival and has since been performed at the California Music Educators Association (CMEA) Bay Section and in choir concerts throughout California. She is currently completing a second publication with F Flat Books, titled Vùng đất hứa (The Promised Land). An upcoming major project includes a commissioned work for La Quinta High School, funded by the CCDA Choral Equity Grant in partnership with the school. Her early choral arrangement of the Vietnamese folk song Quê tôi has been featured in performances by the American River College Concert Choir and Sonoma State University’s premier ensemble, SonoVoce.
As a music educator, Julianne holds a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education from Sonoma State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Music Education at San José State University. She earned a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music (K–12) with English Learner Authorization from Sonoma State University and completed student teaching at Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa. Her mentors include Gail Bowers (Maria Carrillo High School) and Jenny Bent (Sonoma State University).
As a vocalist, Julianne actively performs as a soloist and ensemble musician throughout the Sacramento and Bay Area. Her solo repertoire spans Vietnamese traditional and contemporary music, musical theater, and classical works. Her ensemble experience includes membership in SonoVoce, as well as extensive participation in choral, chamber, large orchestral, and community ensembles across Northern California.
