Julieann Hartley

Julieann Hartley, known to kids and families as Miss Julieann, is a board-certified music therapist, children's musician, and nature educator with over 15 years of experience helping children build resilience through music, creativity, and the natural world. Her 2019 album, Therapeutic Songs for Kids, won a Parents' Choice Award, and her 2023 release, Resilient Child, offered families a powerful tool for supporting mental health. In 2024, she founded the Resilient Child Media Awards to spotlight children's media that promotes mental health and sustainability. Most recently, Julieann was a vocalist on  Brillo, Brillo by Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band—winner of the 2025 GRAMMY® Award for Best Children's Album.

Julieann's debut picture book, There's a Dinosaur at My Door, marks a deeply personal milestone.  During a years-long recovery from a severe neurological illness, she found herself unable to perform music. Instead, she turned to illustration—dreaming up this book from bed while navigating a new life with disability. Today, she continues to manage a primary immunodeficiency disorder and monthly white blood cell infusions—allowing her to bring her concerts and author visits to kids across the country.

When she's not performing or visiting schools, Julieann loves hiking, foraging for wild edibles, and teaching kids about native plants—especially her favorite: the mighty oak tree and its acorns. She even hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine! She currently lives in New Hampshire with her husband and son.
