Lesley Barth
Lesley Barth is a woman on a mission – one that’s been slowly unfolding over the past several years.
After a decade in New York City, partially spent balancing corporate America and the hustle of a regionally-touring singer/songwriter, she moved to Nashville in the middle of the pandemic, had a baby, and figured a few things out. Her sophomore album Big Time Baby, with a rather untimely release in May of 2020 that saw canceled tour dates (along with the rest of the music industry), was hailed by American Songwriter as “a soul-stirring second record.”
Themes of personal growth, loss, and transformation were interwoven into the well-crafted tunes which were written as she wrestled with identity, ultimately quitting her job in tech sales and marketing to focus on music in 2018.
The high cost of living in New York City led Lesley back to teaching music lessons, which was also her first job out of college, and in November of 2020, she and her musician husband moved to Nashville.
In Tennessee, she started to build out her own private teaching practice online. This time around, with the wisdom of age, she realized it wasn’t just chance that kept leading her back to teaching lessons, and, using her sales training know-how from the corporate world, she devised an approach, mindset, and method that completely reinvigorated her teaching practice.
After the birth of her child in spring of 2021, she wrote a book and started her company The Teaching Artist Toolkit, LLC, which helps musicians who teach private lessons (or aspire to) with coaching and professional development resources.
While the songs keep coming (her Patrons can attest to the monthly new song downloads), there isn’t a concrete date for a new release, though it’s sure to arrive someday.
For the time being, Lesley is excited to be writing, teaching, spending time with her son, and coaching other musicians to not only earn more through offering high-quality and one-of-a-kind lessons and workshops, but to enhance and affirm their own artistry through teaching.
