Peter Favilla — Pianist, Composer, Educator & Producer
Peter Favilla is an American pianist, composer, educator, and producer whose career moves fluidly between the concert stage, recording studio, classroom, and creative entrepreneurship. Born in Baltimore and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Favilla began teaching himself piano and creating his own music at age two. He later studied Piano Performance at Penn State University, graduating in 2016, before establishing himself in New Jersey and New York City. Equally at home in classical, rock, jazz, cinematic, and experimental music, Favilla has built his work around a simple idea: music is at its most powerful when it tells a story and creates a genuine connection between people.
As a performer and composer, Favilla has performed throughout the United States and internationally, with performances across North America, Europe, and South America. His original suite Ghosts, premiered at Drew University in 2018, earned him semifinalist recognition in the 27th World Music Competition in Vienna. In 2019, he directed, produced, and performed in a sold-out theatrical production of Pink Floyd's The Wall at the Bickford Theater, an ambitious meeting of classical musicianship, rock performance, theater, and multimedia. His projects have since ranged from original piano recordings and national touring to recording on Keith Emerson's own Steinway Model D as part of EMEAPP's Keith Emerson 80th Birthday Celebration. In 2024, Favilla released his debut album of original piano works and toured with Dr. Marissa Guarriello, performing music he composed for her children's book Onward and Upward. The New York Post, Madison Eagle, CanvasRebel, and Bold Journey have featured his work and career.
Beyond the stage, Favilla has made education, collaboration, and access central to his work. He has collaborated with institutions including Indiana University, the University of North Carolina, and the University of Texas at Austin; served as a performer, educator, and partner with Musikfest in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; and continues to teach and mentor developing musicians. In 2023, he co-founded Echoland Studios, now based in Times Square, creating a flexible home for artists working across recording, rehearsal, production, video, and education. Whether composing at the piano, performing for an international audience, producing in the studio, or working with a student discovering music for the first time, Favilla approaches each role as part of the same mission: to keep music alive as a shared language of storytelling, curiosity, and human connection.
