Paid Remote Internship | Semester-Based
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Music Service Learning (MSL) is the nonprofit branch of F-flat, an education-focused organization dedicated to supporting music educators, students, and creative communities through innovative resources, partnerships, and professional learning.
As the nonprofit arm of F-flat, MSL focuses on service-learning, educator support, and access-driven initiatives that directly benefit teachers, students, and community partners. This paid internship is designed to provide flexible, ethical, and professionally valuable service-learning experiences while allowing interns to contribute to real-world projects connected to both MSL and F-flat’s broader mission.
Interns may work on projects that support MSL’s nonprofit initiatives, F-flat’s educational platforms, or collaborative efforts that bridge the two.
INTERNSHIP DETAILS
Format: Fully remote
Time Commitment: Approximately 2-3 hours per week (30-40 hours per semester)
Compensation: $15–$18 per billable hour, based on experience and skill set
- Paid hourly over the course of the semester
- Maximum total compensation: up to $600 per semester
Schedule: Flexible and largely asynchronous, with periodic check-ins
PROJECT AREAS
Interns are placed on projects based on interest, experience, and organizational need. Projects may include:
- Media & Content Creation
Video, social media, blog posts, newsletters, website updates - Music, Creative, & Academic Writing
Songwriting, educational writing, research-informed content - Teacher & Community Support
Resource creation, outreach support, professional learning tools - Curriculum Development
Lesson plans, service-learning templates, equity-focused instructional materials - Program Development & Innovation
New initiative design, pilot projects, creative problem-solving - Resource Organization & Curation
Updating and organizing existing MSL materials
SUPERVISION & EXPECTATIONS
- Interns are supervised by the MSL/F-flat leadership team
- Clear project goals, timelines, and deliverables are provided
- Interns are expected to communicate regularly, meet deadlines, and respond to feedback
PERFORMANCE, RENEWAL & TERMINATION
- Internships are offered on a semester basis
- Internships may be renewed for additional semesters based on performance and organizational need
- MSL reserves the right to terminate the internship at any time if expectations are not being met, including lack of communication, missed deadlines, or incomplete work
- Interns will be compensated for all hours worked prior to termination

- Students who are not music majors but are interested in supporting music education, arts organizations, or creative community work are encouraged to apply

This internship is intentionally interdisciplinary. Some projects require music-specific knowledge (such as curriculum or instructional resource development), while others focus on writing, media, research, organization, communications, or program support.
