Chantae Pittman
Chantae D. Pittman is the Director of Choral Activities at Campbell High School in Smyrna, GA. Ms. Pittman is passionate about all forms of music. She is deeply committed to serving her community through music, and is a proud graduate of Tennessee State University having received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education in 2010. She has since earned a Master’s Degree in Music Education at VanderCook College University (Chicago, IL, 2013). She is currently working toward her Doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Choral Music Education at the University of Georgia. She has taught students from elementary through high school.
Ms. Pittman has been an active member of the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) her entire career, serving the students of Georgia and assisting her colleagues in many capacities. She has served GMEA as an All-State Choir Organizer, District Honor Chorus Organizer, and District IV Treasurer. She is also an active member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). She serves the GA-ACDA Chapter as Membership Chair.
A native of Hampton, GA, Ms. Pittman is a graduate of Lovejoy High School. She began her teaching career in the county she graduated from by opening Eddie White K-8 Academy in Clayton County. After growing her program to become the largest in the county, Ms. Pittman moved on to the high school level to rebuild the choral program at Alcovy High School in 2012, and now at Campbell High School. Choirs under her direction have consistently received excellent and superior ratings at contests and they have had the opportunity to perform in five states, with one of the most memorable performances being at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California in 2018.
Ms. Pittman serves as the director of several extracurricular groups at her school, and is the charter advisor of the Tri-M Music Honor Society at Campbell High School. In 2017, she was recognized as “Teacher of the Year.” Ms. Pittman has accumulated vast experience working with choirs across the state of Georgia. She is highly respected as a choral clinician, music education consultant, instructor, grant writer, and adjudicator. She is very active as a soprano soloist and choral musician as a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus since 2011, and the Atlanta Women’s Chorus. Having performed with orchestras, choirs, and small vocal ensembles throughout her career as a musician, Ms. Pittman proudly continues to learn, grow, and develop as a musician, social justice advocate, and pedagogue. She is a member of GMEA, NAfME, ACDA, NEA, PAGE, NAACP, Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity, Inc., and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
