Throughout the story, Priscilla explores different types of drums and percussion instruments. After gathering a collection of instruments, Priscilla concludes playing percussion to be her purpose.

Priscilla Plays Percussion aims to give young learners an early introduction into the percussion instrument family. It explores themes like passion, exploration, confidence and purpose. Grab the accompanying teaching guide for a holistic learning experience that will allow the reader to dig deeper into these themes as well as the percussion instrument family.

The interactive flipbook version allows the reader to explore Priscilla’s universe through instrument sounds and pre-recorded loops on each page. This version is also narrated with a custom backing track allowing ease of use for the classroom and for younger aspiring readers.

About the Author / Illustrator

Zachary Himelhoch is a music educator, performer, producer, author, and clinician based in Chicago, Illinois. In all of his work, Zachary aims to build community and connect people through music. Zachary is an adjunct faculty member in the MECA program at VanderCook College of Music and regularly consults for Quaver Music. Zachary created and directed The DrumHeadz, a multi-school world percussion program in Metro Nashville Public Schools. As a performer, Zachary has worked with a wide range of artists, including Chance the Rapper, Andy Narell, Etienne Charles, The Cool Kids, The O’My’s, Daru Jones, and more.
Zachary lives in the Chicago area with his Wife and Daughter.

At an early age Dan Formidoni began drawing cartoons, animals, and portraits of his favorite athletes and musicians. This hobby turned into a passion and now as an all-around professional artist he not only creates and paints stand alone art pieces, but does face painting, mural work, graffiti-style spray-painting, tattoo design, and of course illustrations. Dan loves painting works using a vibrant brush technique with bright and displaced colors to convey a narrative in addition to creating art for educational stories.
